Fringe World Festival is over for another year , and what an eventful one it was!
Our new fringe show VEHICLE just won two Fringe World awards including WA Winner for best Theatre & Performance and then The Martin Sims Award! This means we will now have some amazing support to take this show (ironically) on the road.
THANK YOU to everyone who supported this show especially the amazing team at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia for programming us, all the amazing FOH and technical staff, all our venue buddies, fringe fam and everyone single person that came out to see the show, reviewed it or posted about it!
We are so incredibly grateful that this show has received such a positive response from it’s debut season. After a few really rough years, it so uplifting to have something like this happen for our Company and it will mean we can keep making weird and wonderful stuff for y’all. Hope to see you all at a Fringe Festival near you soon!
Our brand new fringe-baby VEHICLE made it’s debut during the first week of the Fringe World Festival 2023 and we were honestly overwhelmed with the positive response. Between amazing houses, audience response, critics reviews and even a weekly Fringe Award, it seems people have really taken to our new little comedy.
“★★★★ T heir chemistry is through the roof …an indie, off-beat comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously” – Fourth Wall Media
“A playful and enjoyable showcase of two comic experts. …the perfect fringe show. It’s a chance for two artists to flex their creative muscles, it invites the audience in for an evening that will have them in stitches” – Magazine6000
Huge thanks to everyone that took a chance on us this festival and came out to support the show, it means the world. To everyone outside of Perth, rest assured, the show will be back very soon at a Festival near you. The one’s got legs, long legs.
Massive thanks also to Robert Woods, Esther Longhurst, Tamara Creasy, Rhianna Hall, The Adamczak Family, The Longley Family, Ali Welburn, the amazing staff at State Theatre and The State Of Play team for taking a chance on us.
After a few years laying relatively low, we so excited to announce we are coming back in full-force in Fringe World 2023 with our all-new comedy VEHICLE!
Resident Weeping Spoon weirdo Shane Adamczak joins the legendary Sam Longley as co-writers and co-stars of a brand new show about travelling the globe and finding yourself along the way.
Two of Perth’s most famously unknown comedic powerhouses join forces this Fringe to bring you a madcap journey across the globe in the world premiere of VEHICLE.
“(Longley) has superb comic timing” Stage Whispers
Join Sam and Shane, two old theatre road dogs trapped in a small car on a regional tour of WA as they recap wild and hilarious tales of misadventure, success, failure and utter confusion from decades of touring around the world. Will they learn from their past mistakes or is history destined to repeat itself as they attempt to save the disastrous tour currently unfolding around them?

Featuring fringe-favourites Shane Adamczak and Sam Longley in a new comedy about perseverance, patience, survival and truck stop hotdogs.
It’s been a fairly quiet year here at Weeping Spoon HQ with us mostly being grounded in WA, but we so stoked to finally announce our 2022 Fringe World show!
The award-winning cult sci-fi improv hit returns to FRINGE WORLD Festival for its fourth year and this time our crew are on double duty, playing all the heroes and a whole host of new villains!
Inspired by 1950’s Sci-fi serials, the crew will make up their ongoing epic adventures live on stage aided by the audience’s suggestions. Featuring members of Perth’s own improv-comedy institution The Big Hoo-Haa!
GIRLS SCHOOL FEB 8 – 13, 7:00pm (Super limited capacity! Book early!)
Absolutely gutted to have to cancel yet another fringe festival trip due to Covid. The Ballad Of Frank Allen – DARWIN FRINGE 2021. If you haven’t already heard, WA and the NT are both in lockdown making our upcoming Darwin Fringe Festival shows simply impossible. Hopefully we can make it up there sometime soon and bring you all our weird show about a man who lives in a other man’s beard.
In the meantime, stay safe everybody, look out for each other, don’t Bogart all the TP and we’ll do our best to try keep making art happen again no matter how many times it tries to stop us. (FOUR times just in 2021, for anyone counting)
Like many indy theatre companies, it’s been a weird year for us, but we are super excited (and fortunate) to be bringing our fringe hit The Ballad Of Frank Allen back a live stage this July! Original cast members Shane Adamczak and St John Cowcher reunite to tell our award-winning comedic tale a bout a tiny man who lives in another man’s beard at this year’s DARWIN FRINGE! Can’t wait to make our NT fringe debut in the beautiful top end!
Our award-winning cult sci-fi improv hit returns to FRINGE WORLD Festival for it’s third year and this time our crew of intergalactic riff-raff are on the run! Join Captain Spaceship (Esther Longhurst) and her crew of as they travel through time and space exploring the cosmos, discovering new uncharted worlds and narrowly avoid copyright infringement.
Inspired by 1950’s Sci-fi serials, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, Red Dwarf and 90210, the Captain and her crew will make up their ongoing epic adventures live onstage aided by the audience’s suggestions. They could end up anywhere and anyWHEN and will have only their sharp improv skills, some cheap costumes and maybe some lasers to defend themselves!
“An untameable extravaganza filled to the gills with sci-fi nerdiness, comedy, and raw humanity…” ★★★★½ Fringe Feed

Many moon’s ago Spooner Shane recorded an EP with a bunch of his friends. He now releasing that EP and to help launch it into the world he is going to spend a day doing THREE LIVE STREAM CONCERTS ON THREE DIFFERENT PLATFORMS IN THREE DIFFERENT TIME ZONES so that all my pals around the world can watch if they like.
It will be a fun mix of songs from the EP, covers and Q&A (if people wanna ask anything).
The time different thing is complicated but times/dates below are for the time zone stated:
MONTREAL/TORONTO – June 4th, 10pm
on Instagram Live – @Shaneadamczak
MELBOURNE/SYDNEY – June 5th, 7:30pm
on Facebook Live – /Shane.Adamczak
The shows are free, but I do hope you will go buy the EP for $5 (or more, if you choose) and on June 5th, Bandcamp are waiving all their revenue, so 100% of the money goes to the artist!*
*All money raised from sales on June 5th will go to supporting the Black Lives Matter Movement through actblue who will split the money between several important causes including aiding bail bonds and racial justice organizers.
It’s a rough time to be a performing artist, especially if you work primarily in live theatre, BUT we here at Weeping Spoon always like to try make the best of a bad situation. Spooners Shane Adamczak and St John Cowcher, were, supposed to be on an Australia National theatre tour right now which was cancelled due to COVID19 amongst several other projects (including three weekly comedy shows at the club Shane manages). Instead, like many artists we are stuck inside. We decided to create a weekly online concert series where we would collaborate on songs via the internet and invite some of talented international friends to join the party.
Welcome to our digital concert series. Stay home. Rock out.
You can find the shows for FREE on the UP LATE LIVE YOUTUBE page. A new concert goes live every Saturday Night 8pm (AWST/Perth Time) and if you watch at the live launch you can live chat along with us and some of our awesome guest performers.
